Privacy notice
Version 1.0, 24 October 2026. What SlewView and this website collect, why, and for how long, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
In short: your data files never leave your computer. SlewView talks to our server to check for updates (you can turn that off), to activate and occasionally check a licence, and to send a crash or problem report - only when you press Send. This website sets no cookies and has no analytics. Everything is stored in the EU, and backups are encrypted before they leave our server.
1. Who is responsible
The controller is Innoworks Engineering Kft., 1156 Budapest, Páskomliget u. 19. VI. 24., Hungary, company registration number 01-09-929903. Contact: contact [at] slewview.com. We have not appointed a data protection officer; write to the address above about anything in this notice.
2. What we process
Checking for updates
When SlewView starts, it asks our server whether a newer version exists. The request carries the SlewView version, the Windows version and the processor type, and, as every internet request does, your IP address. Our web server logs the IP address, the time, the address asked for and the browser or program name, and deletes the log after 14 days. Purpose: to offer you fixes and security updates, and to keep the server safe. Legal basis: our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). You can object by turning off Help → Check for updates at start; Help → Check for updates still works when you want it.
Activating and checking a licence
Only with a licence. When you activate, SlewView sends the licence key, a label for the computer (the computer's name unless you type another) and six one-way codes (hashes) made from hardware and Windows identifiers - the identifiers themselves never leave your computer. At most once every 30 days, while the licence is active, SlewView checks it with the key, the computer's activation number and the same codes. We keep with the licence the name given at purchase and the tier, and for each computer its label, codes and the time of activation. Purpose: to deliver the licence and enforce its terms (3 computers at a time, 10 activations a year). Legal basis: the contract (Art. 6(1)(b)). Kept for as long as the licence exists; a computer you deactivate is deleted 12 months after the deactivation.
Crash and problem reports
Only when you press Send in the report window, which shows the report first. A report holds the error, the recent steps you took in SlewView and the state of the plot, the interaction logs of this run and the previous one, the SlewView and Windows versions, and what you type in the box - your email address if you want an answer. File, folder and column names are replaced by placeholders before sending; your licence key and your computer's name are not included. A memory dump goes with it only if you tick the box: it can contain anything that was in memory, including values from your files. We store the report without your IP address, key or computer codes. Purpose: to find and fix faults. Legal basis: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)); you decide each time whether to send. Reports are deleted after 12 months, memory dumps after 90 days.
When you write to us we use your address and message to answer, under the contract or our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)), and keep the correspondence for as long as the matter needs - or as long as Hungarian accounting law requires for anything about a purchase (8 years).
This website
The web server logs each visit's IP address, time, page and browser name, for security and to run the site (Art. 6(1)(f)), and deletes the log after 14 days. The download and buy buttons are counted per day without anything about who clicked. The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads nothing from other companies.
Purchases
Licences are not on sale yet. Before they are, this notice will name the payment provider and what it receives.
3. Who else handles the data
| Who | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Hetzner Online GmbH | the server that runs the website, updates, licences and reports | Falkenstein, Germany |
| Backblaze, Inc. | nightly backups of the server's data, encrypted by us before upload, each kept 30 days | EU Central region, Amsterdam, the Netherlands |
Both work for us under a data processing agreement. Backblaze, Inc. is a US company; its agreement covers any access from the US with the EU standard contractual clauses (GDPR Art. 46(2)(c)), and since we encrypt the backups before they are uploaded, Backblaze cannot read them. The licence system runs on our own server; no licence data goes to the company that makes it. A monitoring service checks only that the server answers and receives no personal data. We do not sell data, do not use it for advertising or profiling, and make no automated decisions about you. Data that is deleted on the server may stay in the backups for up to 30 more days.
4. What stays on your computer
SlewView keeps its settings, the last session, the licence files and its logs in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\SlewView and %LOCALAPPDATA%\SlewView Data. The logs record what you
did in the program, including the names of the files and columns you opened. They leave your computer
only inside a report you choose to send, with the names replaced. You can delete these folders at any
time.
5. Your rights
You may ask us for access to your data, its correction or deletion, restriction of its use, a copy in a portable form, and you may object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Write to contact [at] slewview.com; we answer within one month. Reports are stored without a link to you, so to find yours, give us the report number shown after sending. You can also complain to the Hungarian data protection authority, the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH, 1055 Budapest, Falk Miksa utca 9-11, naih.hu), or to the authority where you live, and you may go to court.
6. Changes
When this notice changes, the new version is published here with a new date, and SlewView names the change at its next start.
